How the price, the cover, the payment and the move day actually work - every figure below comes from the same pricing engine and terms as the rest of the site, not a separate promise.

How quote requests work

Enter your postcodes and property size to see an indicative price band, then tell us more about your move. Our team checks access, inventory and availability before confirming a fixed price. For larger or complex moves we may offer a free video or home survey to check the details.

Bands, not guesses - your price is fixed once you accept it, based on what you declare, not a survey. For larger or complex moves we may offer a free video survey to check it matches; it only changes if the job itself differs, and we tell you before continuing. If your plans change, your deposit is fully refundable when you cancel within 14 days of booking.

What your price includes

Blankets on every hard edge, straps on every stack, and covers on mattresses and sofas are standard on every move, not an upsell. Furniture dismantle and reassembly - beds, wardrobes, desks and flat-pack units - is priced separately at £42 an item, and applying for a parking permit or bay suspension where your street needs one is £45, both itemised on your quote rather than sprung on you on the day.

Packing, storage and international moves each price on their own terms - see Packing, Storage and International moves.

Insurance and cover

Every move is covered to at least £50,000 goods-in-transit and £2m public liability - by our own policy or the performing partner's, which we verify before they carry any job. Extended cover to £150,000 is available for £45.

A short list of items we cannot carry for safety and insurance reasons - fuel, gas cylinders, aerosols and fireworks among them - is set out in full in our terms (section 6); ask us if you are unsure whether something on your list is affected.

Payment and deposit

For quotes under £250, you pay in full at booking - a balance that small is not worth invoicing separately. For every other move, a deposit of 25% of the fixed price (minimum £50) secures your date, and the balance is not due until 7 days before your move.

We take card payments online, or a bank transfer or cash arranged with us directly. Where your amount qualifies, Klarna's pay-later option may also be offered at checkout - that is a credit agreement between you and Klarna, not with us.

What happens on move day

Your crew arrives in the agreed window with everything wrapped and the load inventoried. The crew photographs your goods and the rooms involved at collection, loading and delivery, so any damage claim is resolved fairly, for both you and for us - see our privacy policy for what we do with those photos. If a delay outside our control holds up the day, your goods stay on the vehicle or go into our containerised store overnight at no extra charge, provided the delay is under 24 hours.

Tracking your move

Your booking reference is on your confirmation email. Look it up with your postcode or email at Track your move, or sign in with your email to see every booking you have with us - live status, crew details, access notes and documents in one place.

Cancelling or changing your move

Because you book online or by phone, you have a statutory 14-day right to cancel from the date you book, for any reason, with a full refund. Outside that window, tell us as soon as you can: we book a specific crew and vehicle for your day, so a cancellation charge reflecting our un-recoverable costs may apply the closer to the move you cancel, up to the full price on the day itself. We always tell you the exact charge, if any, before treating a cancellation as final. Full detail is in our terms (section 5).

Who carries out your move

Your booking, your price and your point of contact stay with OX Removals throughout. Many moves are carried out by a vetted transport partner from our network rather than our own crew, always meeting the same insurance floors we set and checked before they carry any job. Whoever performs it, we remain responsible for your move from booking to delivery - see why we quote this way.

Questions people ask us directly

How accurate is the price I get online?

Firm, not a guess: your price is fixed once you accept it, based on what you declare. For larger or complex moves we may offer a free video or home survey afterwards to confirm it matches - it only changes if the job itself differs from what you told us, and we say so before continuing.

What happens if I need to cancel after paying a deposit?

Within 14 days of booking you get a full refund, no reason needed - the statutory right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. After that, tell us as soon as you can: the closer to your move date, the more likely a cancellation charge applies, reflecting costs we cannot recover, up to the full price on the day itself. We tell you the exact figure before treating any cancellation as final.

Can I change my move date instead of cancelling?

Yes - tell us as early as you can. Once you are outside the 14-day cancellation right, moving your date is treated the same way as a cancellation, because we cannot guarantee the crew and vehicle booked for your old date are free on the new one.

Do you subcontract removals, or is it your own crew?

Some moves are carried out by a vetted transport partner from our network rather than our own crew - always meeting the insurance floors we set, and checked before they carry any job. Either way, your booking, price and point of contact stay with OX Removals: we remain responsible for the move from booking to delivery.

How do I pay, and is Klarna a loan from you?

Card online, or a bank transfer or cash arranged directly with us. Klarna's pay-later option, where offered, is a credit agreement between you and Klarna, not with us - their approval and terms apply, not ours.

How do I find my booking if I've lost the confirmation email?

Sign in with the email address you booked with at Track your move, and every booking under that address shows up - you do not need the reference number to do that.

What can't you carry, and why?

For safety and insurance reasons a short list - fuel, gas cylinders, aerosols and fireworks among them - cannot travel on the van; the full list is in our terms. Anything on it is a genuine cover issue, not a house rule.

Is my move covered if something is damaged?

Yes - at least £50,000 goods-in-transit and £2m public liability as standard, by our own policy or the performing partner's, whichever applies. We photograph your goods and the rooms involved at collection, loading and delivery, so a claim can be resolved fairly on real evidence rather than a dispute.
