We set as little as we can get away with. Nothing that measures or advertises loads until you accept it - if you chose "essential only", the analytics and advertising tags below never run. Other features on this page are not measurement or advertising, so that choice does not gate them: a bot check on our forms, address suggestions, and a route-preview map that only appears once we have switched one on.
Strictly necessary
These do not require consent under UK law - either because the site cannot work without them, or because they defend it against automated abuse.

Address suggestions
Address suggestions are separate from analytics and advertising. When Google address search is enabled, the postcode and street-address text you type is sent through our server to Google Maps to request suggestions. Choosing "essential only" does not disable address lookup. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Route map preview - only if we have switched it on
When enabled, the interactive route preview loads map resources from Mapbox. It is separate from Google address suggestions and optional analytics and advertising; choosing "essential only" does not disable the map. The preview may use postcode-centre locations rather than individual properties, so it is approximate. If the interactive map is unavailable, a schematic preview may be shown instead. Why we bother asking
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, analytics and advertising cookies need your opt-in consent in the UK - a banner that only tells you cookies exist is not enough. We use Google Consent Mode, so if you decline, Google receives no identifiers from your visit at all.
