International removals
Europe by road, the rest of the world by sea or air. Priced by the cubic metre, with the customs paperwork handled rather than handed to you.
Why international is priced differently
A domestic move is priced on distance and crew hours. An international move is priced on volume - how many cubic metres of container or trailer you occupy. That is why our international quotes start with a survey rather than a postcode, and why "how far is it" is almost the least important question.
Three ways your things can travel
- Road groupage - Europe. Your load shares a trailer. Cheapest, a few days longer.
- Sea freight - worldwide. Shared container (LCL) below about 24 m³, sole-use 20ft or 40ft above it.
- Air freight - small, urgent shipments only. Several times the cost of sea and rarely worth it for a household.
Keeping a base here while you are on an overseas posting? Our storage holds things in one sealed container for exactly that, for as long as the posting runs.
Moving to the UK: apply for ToR1 first
Transfer of Residence relief lets returning residents import used personal belongings without UK duty or VAT. It is free and it is applied for before your goods arrive. Every year people pay tax they did not owe because nobody told them in time.

How are international removals priced?
By volume in cubic metres, not by distance. We survey your load, then price the shipping mode that suits it - road groupage for Europe, shared or sole-use container by sea for everywhere else.
Do you handle the customs paperwork?
We file the export declaration and prepare the itemised inventory customs requires. Country-specific documents like a Spanish NIE or an Australian B534 need your details, and we tell you exactly what to get and when.
What is ToR1?
Transfer of Residence relief. If you are moving to the UK, it lets you bring your own used household goods in without paying duty or VAT. It is free, it is applied for in advance, and leaving it until the container lands is an expensive mistake.
Can I share a container to save money?
Yes, and below roughly 24 cubic metres it is almost always cheaper. Groupage and LCL share space with other consignments; you wait a little longer for consolidation and pay considerably less.
Is my shipment insured?
Marine cover is quoted separately at around 2.8% of the value you declare. It is optional and, for a full household crossing an ocean, we would not send one without it.
