Why we quote differently
Because the thing that ruins a moving day is almost never the furniture.
OX Removals Ltd · company 15886470 · Abingdon, Oxfordshire
We started in 2024 with a view that the removals industry has a specific, fixable problem: firms quote on bedroom count, discover the real job on the morning, and then either lose money or hand the customer a bigger bill.
We are a young company and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. What we can point to is how we quote: priced online first, checked (not reset) by a survey, and access sorted by us rather than by you. Your contract, price and point of contact stay with us throughout - the move itself is carried out by a vetted transport partner meeting the insurance floors we set, and we remain responsible for it from booking to delivery.
What we do instead
We price you online first, then verify it. Fifteen minutes on a video call tells us the stair turn, the doorway width, the parking situation and whether your wardrobe comes apart, matching it against what you already told us. For four bedrooms and up, we come to you.
Your price is fixed from the moment you accept it, not after the survey. If the survey turns up something you did not tell us, we say so before doing anything else and you can decline the revised price. That only works if the survey is honest, which is why we would rather spend fifteen minutes up front than three hours arguing on a driveway.
The access problem
Half our patch is streets that predate the motor car. Permit bays, bus gates, a zero-emission zone, medieval lanes, listed doorways, colleges that need a booked loading slot. We handle the paperwork on all of it - you should not have to phone the council about your own move.
Our standards
- £50,000 goods in transit and £2m public liability as standard.
- Blankets on every hard edge, straps on every stack, covers on mattresses and sofas.
- Partner jobs run on the partner's own insurance, checked against the floor we require before they carry anything.
What we will tell you honestly
If we cannot do your date, we will say so rather than take the booking and let you down a week out. If a lorry cannot reach your cottage, we will tell you at quote, not on the morning. And if a competitor is genuinely better placed for your job, we will say that too.
